AI Texture Generator for Fully Textured 3D Models

Upload a picture and the AI builds a new 3D model and paints its texture in the same run, typically in 3 to 5 minutes. It doesn't repaint a mesh you already own; for maps and tileable textures, the free browser tools below do that part.

  • Texture painted with the model
  • Textured GLB in one file
  • Free normal and seamless map tools
  • Textured runs: 3 credits, paid plan

Three things people mean by an AI texture generator

The phrase covers three different jobs, and it helps to know which one you need before you spend anything.

  • A new model that comes textured. You have a picture of a character, prop or product and want a 3D version with the colors already on it. This is what the generator on this page does.
  • Texture maps or tileable materials. You need a normal map, roughness map or a seamless brick, wood or fabric tile for a material you are building. The free normal map generator makes normal, height, ambient occlusion and roughness maps from one photo, and the seamless texture generator turns a photo into a tile that repeats without visible edges. Both run in your browser with no account.
  • New paint on a mesh you already have. You made or bought a model and want AI to repaint it. SupaVoxel does not do this: you can't upload a mesh to the studio for texturing. If that is your job, look at a retexture service such as Meshy's Retexture API, or paint it yourself in Blender's Texture Paint mode after giving it UVs with the free UV unwrap tool.

If you landed here searching for a texture 3D model AI tool and you already own the mesh, the third point is the honest answer. If you have a picture and want a finished, painted model, read on.

How the AI texture generator builds a painted model

Shape first, color second, both from the same picture.

  1. 01

    Upload a clear picture

One object, evenly lit, on a plain background, PNG, JPG, WebP or HEIC up to 10 MB. Background removal is on by default. In the studio you can add up to four more angles of the same object, which gives the AI real colors for the sides and back instead of guesses.
  2. 02

    Choose the textured run

Pick Full instead of geometry only. It costs 3 credits and needs a paid plan. The AI first builds the shape, then paints a texture over it that follows your picture. Expect 3 to 5 minutes; the model is saved in your library, so you can close the tab and come back.
  3. 03

    Check the paint and export

Turn the model around and look at the back and the underside, the parts your picture never showed. Download a GLB with the texture embedded in one file, or STL, OBJ, USDZ and 3MF on your paid plan. Not happy with the colors? An untextured run costs 1 credit, so test new pictures for the shape before paying for paint.

Where the AI texture comes from

Most image-to-3D systems work in two passes. A shape model builds the surface, then a separate texture model paints colors onto that surface. Hunyuan3D, one of the engines behind the studio, describes exactly this split: a shape generator and a texture synthesis model.

On the side you photographed, the paint follows your picture closely: printed patterns, glaze, freckles, rust. On the sides you didn't show, the AI predicts what is typical for that kind of object, so a plain back usually comes out fine and a detailed back print usually doesn't. That is the main reason to add extra angles when the back matters.

The free plan builds geometry only. That gray model is still useful for testing whether the AI reads your shape correctly; switch to textured when it does.

  • Geometry only: 1 credit, gray, usually under a minute
  • Textured: 3 credits, painted from your picture, paid plan
  • The front follows your image; hidden sides are inferred
  • Extra angles replace guesses with real colors

What you can do with a textured model

The texture travels with the model into the next step.

Games and real-time 3D

The GLB opens in Blender, Unity and Godot with its texture attached. Simplify the mesh and compress the GLB in the studio before you drop it into a scene.

Color prints on a Bambu AMS

A textured model can be reduced to 4 or 16 filament colors matched to Bambu PLA and exported as a multi-color 3MF, so the painted regions become printed colors.

AR on iPhone and iPad

Export USDZ on a paid plan and the textured model opens in AR Quick Look, straight from Safari, Messages or Mail.

Check it anywhere

Open the file in the free 3D model viewer to check the texture from every side before you share it or send it to a client.

Getting a cleaner texture from the AI texture generator

The picture decides most of the result. Settings come second.

Do
  • Shoot in soft, even light; shadows in the photo get painted onto the model
  • Use a three-quarter view so two sides of the object show real color
  • Add the back and side as extra angles when they look different from the front
  • Keep glare off glossy surfaces; a bright reflection becomes a white smear
  • Start with a 1-credit untextured run to confirm the shape
Avoid
  • Expect small printed text or logos to stay readable on the model
  • Upload a heavily filtered or color-graded photo unless you want those colors
  • Crop parts of the object out of frame; missing parts get invented
  • Use a busy background when you turn background removal off
  • Upload your own mesh and expect it to be repainted; the studio doesn't do that

Honest limits of AI texturing

Lighting gets baked in. The texture is painted from a photo, and photos contain light. Strong highlights and shadows end up in the paint, which can look doubled when a game engine lights the model again. Soft, flat lighting in the source picture avoids most of this.

The texture belongs to that one model. It is painted for this mesh and laid out for it, so you can't lift it off as a reusable material for a floor or a wall. For a tileable surface material, start from a photo of the surface with the seamless texture generator and the normal map generator.

Hidden sides are predictions. A label on the back of a bottle or a pattern on a cape you never photographed won't appear by magic. Add that view as an extra angle.

Changing colors later means painting. There is no recolor-by-prompt step after generation. For small fixes, paint in Blender's Texture Paint mode or any image editor; for a different look, generate from a new picture. The free plan only builds untextured models, so painted results start on a paid plan, from $25 a year for 400 credits.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can SupaVoxel texture a 3D model I already have?

No. The studio does not accept your own mesh for AI texturing; it generates a new model from a picture and paints it in the same run. For an existing mesh, use a retexture service such as Meshy's Retexture API, or paint it in Blender. Free tools here help with the prep: UV unwrap and the normal map generator.

Is this AI texture generator free?

Partly. New accounts get 3 free credits with Google sign-in and no card, but free runs build untextured models with a GLB download. Textured models cost 3 credits and need a paid plan, from $25 a year for 400 credits. The normal map, seamless texture and UV unwrap tools on this site are free and need no account.

How long does AI texturing take?

A textured model typically takes 3 to 5 minutes, because the shape is built first and the texture is painted afterwards. An untextured model is usually ready in under a minute, so use one to check the shape before spending 3 credits on paint. Your models stay in the studio library while you wait.

What texture do I get with the model?

A texture painted over the model's surface and embedded in the GLB, so the file opens textured in Blender, Unity, Godot or a web viewer. On a paid plan you can also export OBJ, USDZ and 3MF. The texture is made for that model only; for reusable, tileable surface maps, use the free browser tools on this site.

Can I make seamless textures or PBR maps here?

Yes, with the free browser tools. The seamless texture generator makes a photo tileable, and the normal map generator builds normal, height, ambient occlusion and roughness maps from one photo. Nothing is uploaded and no sign-in is needed.

Can I generate a textured model from text instead of a picture?

Yes. Text to 3D first turns your prompt into a picture in Image Studio, which is part of the Pro plan, and then builds and paints the model from it. Without a Pro plan, make the picture any way you like and upload it here instead.

Why does the back of my model look smeared or wrong?

The AI only sees what your picture shows. Colors on the front follow the photo; the back is predicted, so detailed patterns there often blur. In the studio, add the back and sides as extra angles, up to four, and the painter uses those real colors instead of guessing.

Will the texture print in color?

On a multi-color printer, yes. In the studio a textured model can be reduced to 4 or 16 filament colors matched to Bambu PLA and exported as a 3MF for an AMS. A plain STL carries no color at all, so a single-color printer prints the shape only.
