Magic3D vs SupaVoxel: the short verdict

Our take

SupaVoxel is the better pick if what you make ends up on a 3D printer. A year of Hobbyist is $25, against $167 for a year of Magic3D Pro, and a textured model costs about $0.19 instead of $0.28 to $0.40 on Pro. Repair, stand bases, cuts with pins, molds and multi-color 3MF are part of the studio, and failed generations refund their credits automatically. Pick Magic3D if you want images, short videos and character animation on the same credits, or FBX export.

SupaVoxel is better for
  • A low yearly bill: $25 for 400 credits valid all year, versus $167 a year for Magic3D Pro, whose credits don't carry over between cycles
  • Cheaper textured models: about $0.19 on Hobbyist and $0.14 on Starter, against $0.28 to $0.40 on Magic3D Pro; only the $671 Ultra yearly plan matches
  • Print finishing included in every paid plan from $25 a year, with no extra credits per step: watertight repair, stand base, plane cut with pins, mold generator, multi-color 3MF. Magic3D charges 10 credits each for repair, split and 3MF and lists no base or mold tool
  • Failed paid runs refund credits automatically; Magic3D asks you to contact support with the task ID
  • Free browser tools with no account, like STL repair and GLB to STL
Magic3D is better for
  • Breadth: text to image, image to video and 3D animation share the same credits as 3D
  • FBX export, which SupaVoxel's studio does not offer
  • Creative Lab templates for keychains, magnets, lampshades, keycaps and fidget toys
  • Bigger plans for studios: 12,000 credits a month and 30 parallel tasks on Ultra

06

When Magic3D is the better choice

Magic3D is a creative studio, not only a 3D generator. One credit balance covers 4K images, short 720p videos, textured 3D models and character animation, Creative Lab templates build keychains, magnets or keycaps for 10 to 100 credits, and slicer buttons send a model to Bambu Studio or OrcaSlicer. Game and animation users get FBX export, which SupaVoxel does not have. Magic3D also advertises 20 to 60 seconds per model.

  • You also need AI images or short videos
  • You animate characters or need FBX
  • You like one-click templates for gifts
07

When SupaVoxel is the better Magic3D alternative

As a Magic3D alternative, SupaVoxel fits makers who print. Untextured models usually finish in under a minute and textured ones typically in 3 to 5 minutes, and a failed generation refunds its credits automatically instead of needing a support ticket.

A whole year of Hobbyist costs $25, $142 less than a year of Magic3D Pro, and its 400 credits stay valid all year, so a quiet month isn't a lost month. A textured model is 3 credits, about $0.19, against 40 credits, about $0.40, on Magic3D Pro monthly.

The studio is built around the print path. One click repairs a mesh into a watertight manifold solid. You can add a stand base, cut the model on a plane and split it into parts with alignment pins, make a two-part mold, simplify the mesh, and export multi-color 3MF for a Bambu AMS with 4 or 16 filament colors matched to the Bambu PLA palette. For a printed figurine, that covers most of the work between the picture and the slicer. See the multi-color 3D print workflow and the Bambu Lab guide for settings.

  • A few models a month, mostly printed
  • Multi-color prints on a Bambu AMS
  • Large prints split into pinned parts
  • No monthly bill when you're not printing
08

Where Magic3D falls short: free credits, billing, licensing and print prep

Magic3D is broad, but these limits change what it really costs, as of November 2026:

  • A free tier that can't make a photo model: 20 sign-up credits that expire 30 days after signup, one task at a time. Image to 3D costs 30 credits, so the free credits cover one untextured text-to-3D model, not one model from a photo.
  • Public license on free: anything made only with free credits is public under CC BY 4.0 and needs attribution. Paid-credit assets are private with full commercial rights.
  • Credits that reset: subscription credits are valid only in the current billing cycle and don't carry over. Pro's 50% first-month discount is for eligible new subscribers only, then $19.90 a month.
  • Print prep billed per step: repair is 10 credits, resize 5, split 10 and a multi-color 3MF file 10, so a textured, print-ready model can reach 60 credits or more. No stand base or mold generator is listed. On SupaVoxel the same steps are included in every paid plan from $25 a year, with no extra credits per step, so a textured model stays at 3 credits.
  • Narrow refunds: the money-back guarantee excludes change of mind and credits already used, subscription refunds must be requested within 14 days of renewal, and a failed generation means contacting support with the task ID.

On SupaVoxel, failed paid runs refund their credits automatically, and purchases carry a 30-day money-back guarantee.

SupaVoxel has limits of its own. New accounts get 3 credits and can download GLB only; STL, OBJ, USDZ and 3MF exports, textured models and the commercial license all need a paid plan. There is no FBX, no rigging or animation, no video, and no API. For a wider look at what these tools cost, read the AI 3D model pricing guide.

How to test Magic3D and SupaVoxel on the same picture

A fair side-by-side takes about half an hour and costs almost nothing.

  1. 01

    Pick two test images

Use one character and one hard-surface object, each centered on a plain background with even light. Keep the same files for both tools so you compare models, not inputs.
  2. 02

    Generate in SupaVoxel

Upload to image to 3D. The 3 free credits cover three untextured models, which usually finish in under a minute. Download the GLB and open it in the free 3D model viewer.
  3. 03

    Generate in Magic3D

The 20 free credits won't cover an image-to-3D model, so the cheapest real test is the $9.99 pack: 600 credits, about 15 textured image models at 40 credits each.
  4. 04

    Check printability

Look at the back, thin parts and the base. Convert to STL with the free GLB to STL converter, then run STL repair before slicing either model.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How much does Magic3D cost?

As of November 2026, Magic3D pricing starts free with 20 sign-up credits. Pro is $19.90 a month for 2,000 credits, or $167 a year. Ultra is $79.90 a month for 12,000 credits, or $671 a year. A one-time pack of 600 credits costs $9.99. A Max tier with 5,000 credits a month appears in the plan details but had no public price.

Is Magic3D free?

You can start free, with limits. New accounts get 20 credits that expire 30 days after signup, with no card required. Image to 3D costs 30 credits, so the free credits cover one untextured text-to-3D model but not a model from a photo. Anything made with free credits is public under CC BY 4.0 and needs attribution.

How many credits does a Magic3D model use?

Text to 3D is 20 credits for the mesh only and 30 with textures. Image to 3D is 30 credits for the mesh and 40 with textures. Pro quality adds 10 more. Repair, splitting and multi-color 3MF are charged separately, at 10 credits each, so a textured, print-ready model can reach 60 credits or more.

Can I use Magic3D models commercially?

Yes, with conditions. Models made only with free credits are public under CC BY 4.0, so commercial use requires crediting the creator. Models made with paid credits are private and include full commercial rights without attribution. On SupaVoxel, the commercial license starts with the $25 yearly Hobbyist plan.

What file formats does Magic3D export?

Magic3D exports GLB, STL, OBJ and FBX, plus multi-color 3MF for supported models at 10 credits per file. Its free browser converter handles GLB, GLTF, OBJ and STL. SupaVoxel exports GLB on the free tier and STL, OBJ, USDZ and 3MF on paid plans, but not FBX.

Is Magic3D faster than SupaVoxel?

Possibly, on its own figures. Magic3D advertises 20 to 60 seconds per model, with higher queue priority on paid plans; we haven't timed it. SupaVoxel's untextured models usually finish in under a minute and textured ones typically take 3 to 5 minutes. For printed models, the cost of a finished, print-ready file usually matters more than a minute.

Is Magic3D better than SupaVoxel for 3D printing?

For most printers, no. SupaVoxel includes watertight repair, stand bases, split with pins, molds and multi-color 3MF for Bambu AMS in every paid plan from $25 a year, with no extra credits per step. Magic3D charges 10 credits each for repair, split and 3MF and lists no base or mold tool, from $167 a year on Pro. If you also need images, video or animation, Magic3D's all-in-one studio may suit you better.

Is Magic3D cheaper than SupaVoxel?

No, on every plan but one. A textured model from a photo costs about $0.40 on Magic3D Pro monthly, $0.28 on Pro yearly and $0.67 from a credit pack, against about $0.19 on SupaVoxel Hobbyist and $0.14 on Starter. Only Magic3D Ultra yearly, at $671, matches the $0.19. A year of SupaVoxel Hobbyist costs $25, against $167 for Magic3D Pro.

Do Magic3D credits roll over?

Subscription credits don't. They are valid only in the current billing cycle, and unused ones are lost when it ends. Credits from one-time packs never expire. If you cancel, your plan and remaining credits stay usable until the period ends. SupaVoxel's Hobbyist credits stay valid for the whole year.

Is magic3d.io related to the Magic3D research project?

The name is shared with a 2022 text-to-3D research project from NVIDIA. This page covers the commercial web studio at magic3d.io, which sells 3D, image and video generation on a credit plan. Everything here about Magic3D pricing, formats and terms refers to that studio as of November 2026.
